What are our Kids to Believe? (October/November 2018)

Here in the Ottawa Valley the snow is falling, with about 3 inches on the ground and another 5 inches to come, according to the weatherman. It’s November 16th, 2018 and according to the climate change promoters, we are in a virtual meltdown, that will see life as we know it here on earth, all change by 2030 or was it 2050? The year that we are to become extinct, changes with every new generation of environmental apocalypse believers.

My nine year old granddaughter, triggered my fears for the future generations last night. As I retired to my easy chair after supper, cup of tea in hand and four grandchildren streaking around the house as I tried to watch Fox News, she quietly slipped up behind me and started to brush my hair. It seems a well-known fact that grampa is a particularly weak authoritarian figure when you brush his hair. Fox News was showing the disastrous forest fires in California, and she brought up her fears of what was going to happen to the world if man didn’t stop what he was doing, to cause global warming. I asked if she was hearing about this in school and she confirmed that this was the case.

I didn’t want to trash talk her teacher but I did want to spark a question in her mind to try to get all of the facts about the subject. I asked her if they told her how scary it was that the glaciers were all melting and she confirmed that they had. Then I asked her if she knew that the Ottawa Valley was once covered by a mile-high glacier? She was surprised. I then pointed to the proof on our own farm where in the middle of a loamy field, we have a mound of sand or another field around the area with a very ‘out of place’ giant rock, all placed there by very slow moving glaciers that melted, leaving these deposits where they stopped. I talked to her about CO2 and the parts per million(ppm) that they talk about and how, when the dinosaurs were here, the ppm was somewhere between 2500 and 6000 ppm according to scientists. I also mentioned that greenhouse operators often pump CO2 into the growing areas at 1000 to 2000 ppm to get optimum growth from plants. I don’t know how successful I will be in convincing my grand kids to always question the media spin, the political agenda and the lobbyists but I hope that their generation will inform themselves and always follow the money and who is gaining from the spin.

I encouraged her to follow Dr. Tim Ball in this magazine for the truth. The future is in their hands and we must place our trust that they will not be duped as easily as ours was.

By the way, for a good study into how we were duped, take a look at a YouTube video conversation between Mark Levin (Life, Liberty and Levin) and Dr. Patrick Michaels – called The Truth about Global Warming which aired Oct. 21, 2018. It shows how the computer models used the inaccurate inputs in the beginning that skewed the predictions for the future.
