Our Mandate

mandate-farming-thenRoots in Freedom and Common Law

The Landowner Magazine is an independent publication produced by people concerned about the increasing erosion of our rights and the creeping abuses of power by those elected or appointed to serve the public. Our roots in freedom and common law and our concern with politicians who seem to have lost their way, are some of the passions we write about. We promote the family farm, local food and highlight some of the struggles that farm families are facing. Featuring some of the small businesses that drive our economy, we highlight the real threats to their survival with the ever increasing burden of red tape and bureaucracies that have lost touch with common sense.

Trying to Find Justice

One of our main focuses has been on the struggles that occur when governments interfere on private property through their intrusive legislation and red tape that affects the lives of those people just trying to make a living. The magazine carries stories from individuals who struggle to find justice against a system that is weighted in favour of the ‘government machine’ and a court system where finding justice is almost impossible. When a ‘bogus’ bylaw brings you into this ‘circus’, you discover that there is a very high price tag waiting for you at the end of this drawn out ‘crawl’ to prove your innocence.

mandate-farming-nowLearning about Your Rights

Stories such as “what to do when they come for you”, give people the tools to use when agencies such as the MNR, OSPCA, Municipal bylaw enforcers or Conservation Authorities tell you that they have authority over your land and what you can or can’t do, on it. Learning about your rights granted from the Magna Carta, Bill of Rights to the Constitution of 1867 and your Crown Grants, gives you the knowledge you need to say “Back off Government”.

Stories from throughout Ontario and across Canada

That’s only a portion of our magazine, however. Topics include a gardening column, a corner on health, honouring our soldiers with ‘answering the call’, the climate change debate, humourous stories from the past, the ‘accidental farmwife’, a crossword puzzle and the old rooster sounding out on the back page. Our regular reporters send us interesting stories from around the province and across Canada from Hydro protests and Chris Downey’s story of survival to closing the RCU in Chesley, Ontario…you never know what you’ll read about.

Our goal is to continue providing information to our readers on what is happening throughout Ontario and the rest of Canada. We welcome stories from readers or letters to the editor. It is a magazine for the people and by the people with articles that we hope, will appeal to all ages.
