Making Our Votes Count on June 7th (Apr./May 2018)

June 7th is just about here, folks. Who will you vote for in your riding? For some, it is a slam dunk – Doug Ford – ‘we have to get rid of Wynne’. I understand that sentiment, we have all had enough. But is Doug Ford the answer to fix what is wrong with how the province is run? Well Mr. Ford has inherited about 26 people who while lead by Patrick Brown, voted with the Liberals on most bills, or went home so they wouldn’t have to vote, because the party whipped the vote.

The Party hasn’t changed. The whip is still part of this party’s tool box. The whip forces any elected MPP with a brain and an expectation from their constituents to vote on their behalf, to abandon their own thought and vote the wishes of the puppeteers in the back room. Doug Ford is only one vote, and many of the new nominees for the PC party were all chosen by the back-room committees for one character trait. – they have all proven that they would join the existing flock of sheep. The one outcome we could maybe all hope for is that we end up with a minority government. The worst case scenario, in my opinion, is that we get an NDP government because of a protest vote.

We need to change how the party system represents voters in Ontario, because when 50% of the people don’t vote, it is obvious that they have lost faith in the process.

So, I ask all of you who have stopped voting, or want to spoil your ballet, or check a ‘protest’ vote for the NDP, to please consider the Trillium Party if you have a candidate in your area. They are committed to establishing a party built on principles that recognize the voter as the MPP’s boss, not the party. Don’t be afraid of splitting the vote! The PC party has not been reborn. It only has a new leader, who has already been forced to flip many times, by the same old puppeteers in the back room.

One pollster in the last couple of weeks, has predicted an NDP majority. The next poll put the NDP within 7 points of the PC’s and that was before the teacher’s union went from the Liberals to the NDP. Now the government workers union has endorsed the NDP as well so an NDP majority is quite possible.

Don’t let that happen! All you rejected and ignored conservatives, all you liberals who feel it’s time for a change, and everyone who has given up on this political system…please get out and vote – vote for a change, vote for a minority government with some Trillium MPP’s in Queen’s Part to keep watch over all these parties that have lost their way, and forgot that the voter is supposed to be respected.
